MagicBand+ is coming soon to Walt Disney World and bringing a host of new interactive experiences with it! MagicBand+ will enhance the Fab 50 Character statues that were installed all around Walt Disney World theme parks last year at the start of the 50th-anniversary celebration of the resort. The Disney Parks Blog shared that Guests will be able to bring the sculptures to life simply by using their new MagicBand+.

Guests will interact with the statues through the “Disney Fab 50 Quest,” which can be found on the Play Disney Parks mobile app. Also included in the app, Guests will be able to track which sculptures they have already found and brought to life, as well as additional achievements that can be unlocked through interactive activities with MagicBand+ and augmented reality settings inspired by the characters.

At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Guests will have the opportunity to participate in the all-new Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters experience. Guests who play will use their MagicBand+ to find “virtual bounties” that are hidden all around Batuu. This experience will showcase some of the newest MagicBand features, including the band’s ability to vibrate and light up when Guests are getting closer to the bounty.

During the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters experience around Black Spire Outpost, Guests can also use the Play Disney Parks app to access an augmented reality thermal viewer that shows what is hidden behind closed doors throughout Batuu. And, upon completing the mission, users will be rewarded with special galactic credits.

Last but certainly not least, the new MagicBand+ will enhance nighttime spectaculars at Walt Disney World. The new bands will light up along with the music and fireworks taking place in the skies so Guests wearing a MagicBand+ can become a part of the show themselves.

All of the above experiences will be available when MagicBand+ launches this summer. Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels and Annual Passholders will be able to purchase MagicBand+ at discounted rates prior to their arrivals at the resort. MagicBand+ will also be available at the Disneyland Resort at a later date to be announced. And, existing MagicBands and Disney MagicMobile will continue to work (for features current with those bands), and they will continue to be sold around Walt Disney World.

Disney has not confirmed a release date for MagicBand+, but we will be back with updates as we know more here on Disney Fanatic.
