Make-A-Wish Alumni Experience Magical Moment During World Wish Day at Disney World

Make-A-Wish Disney World

Walt Disney World recently joined Make-A-Wish to celebrate World Wish Day with a special magical moment for alumni of the organization. World Wish Day was created to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of Make-A-Wish, which took place 42 years ago in 1980. Disney World celebrated the occasion by creating a moment for current Cast Members who are Wish alumni (former wish recipients) by inviting them to serve as Grand Marshals during Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade.

You may have noticed the special EARidescent license plate on the classic car used to get the Grand Marshals down the parade route. It is new for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, but this license plate (available to register for vehicles in Florida) benefits Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.

The Walt Disney Company has partnered with Make-A-Wish since the beginning, and to take has helped grant over 145,000 Disney wishes around the world. Local Make-A-Wish organizations are still in the process of expanding their wish options following closures and regulations during COVID-19, and Make-A-Wish Canada just announced Walt Disney World vacations are once again an option for future wishes!

Disney Cast Members, including the Wish alumni featured in the parade, have a special place in their hearts for Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort through Make-A-Wish, and we appreciate all of the work Disney does toward supporting wishes granted through this organization.
