On October 8, Disney World Finally Unveils Reimagined Disney Springs Area

Nearly two months of barriers have come down at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs, and shoppers who return to the Walt Disney World Resort store will find it looking much like it always has. The reopening of the back half marks the end of a long, quiet refurbishment that the Central Florida Disney destination never explained.

A Summer of Gradual Closures at Disney Springs

The project began earlier this summer, when black curtains and other barriers appeared around part of the merchandise location in the Marketplace neighborhood. Then, in early August, Walt Disney World Resort shut down the entire back half of the shop. That section is arranged almost like a convention floor, with open-concept “boutiques” themed around different types of souvenirs spread across a large, warehouse-like space.

Disney offered no details about its plans. In September, new flooring was installed throughout the Marketplace Co-Op, which gave guests a sense of the scope of the work, but the back half remained closed even after that. Throughout the refurbishment, the front half of the store remained open with a limited inventory, and the attached Tren-D clothing store also kept its doors open.

On October 8, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughingplace shared a photo confirming that the closed section was accessible again. The post read:

Despite the long closure, Walt Disney World Resort doesn't seem to have made any major alterations. The work most likely involved basic repainting or infrastructure maintenance, in addition to the new flooring. The shop continues to carry its usual lineup of apparel, tech accessories, housewares, and other souvenirs inspired by the Disney parks.

Hours and What's Next

Walt Disney World Resort hasn't said whether it has additional construction planned for the Marketplace Co-Op. At the moment, the store is open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Because hours are subject to change, guests planning a trip to the outdoor lifestyle complex should check the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World Resort website for current operating information.
