Disney Springs guests haven't lost access to Marketplace Co-Op, but they won't be able to explore the entire store during their next visit.
A refurbishment is continuing inside the popular shopping location, with work now affecting approximately the back half of Marketplace Co-Op.
Disney is replacing flooring throughout the location, and the latest phase requires three of the smaller shopping areas to remain inaccessible.
Rather than closing Marketplace Co-Op completely, Disney has been moving the project through the building in sections.
That strategy is keeping shopping available, but it also means guests will encounter some temporary changes.
Refurbishment Moves to the Back of the Store
Disney previously replaced flooring in the front two sections of Marketplace Co-Op, including Disney Drop Shop.
With that portion of the project completed, attention has shifted toward the back.
Guests will now find black curtains stretched across the affected area, preventing anyone from entering the construction zone.
Three smaller shops sit behind those curtains. They normally offer merchandise that includes apparel, accessories, and home goods, meaning the current closure eliminates a decent amount of browsing space.
Fortunately, there are still several reasons to step inside.
The front of Marketplace Co-Op remains open, with designer purses, apparel, accessories, and Disney Drop Shop merchandise available to guests.
Tren-D is also open next door, giving shoppers another option without having to venture far from Marketplace Co-Op.
PhotoPass Guests Have to Take a Different Route
There's one detail visitors may not realize until they arrive.
The construction curtains also cover the hallway connecting Marketplace Co-Op to the PhotoPass studio.
Guests can't currently walk directly between the two spaces using that indoor connection. Instead, they'll need to leave the building and head outside before entering the other location.
For first-time visitors, the change probably won't mean much.
Frequent Disney Springs guests, however, may instinctively head toward the familiar hallway before realizing it's inaccessible.
It's a small inconvenience, but one worth knowing about before visiting.
A New Floor Is Already Visible
While the back of Marketplace Co-Op is currently hidden from guests, the finished sections provide a preview of what's coming.
Disney has installed gray speckled flooring in the areas where work is complete. It replaces the previous brown flooring and gives those sections a different appearance.
The project isn't transforming Marketplace Co-Op into a completely different shopping destination. This is primarily a refurbishment of an existing space rather than a major reimagining.
Still, guests who know the location well will likely spot the difference.
The phased approach also helps explain why such a large portion of Marketplace Co-Op is unavailable now. Instead of taking the whole store out of operation, Disney completed one area before moving into another.
That keeps merchandise available and gives guests a reason to continue visiting while construction takes place.
There hasn't been a full closure of Marketplace Co-Op as part of this latest phase. For now, guests should simply expect fewer shopping areas and a different route to the PhotoPass studio.
Once the work is complete, the curtains can come down and Marketplace Co-Op can return to normal operations with new flooring throughout more of the building.
