The MCU is gearing up for a major reset with Avengers: Doomsday, the next crossover event. Directed by the Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame), the upcoming film will mark the conclusion of “The Multiverse Saga” (which started with 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home), while serving as the launchpad for the highly anticipated “The Mutant Saga”.
The confirmed cast includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/U.S. Agent), Simu Liu (Xu Shang-Chi), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki), as well the leads from this year's The Fantastic Four: First Steps: Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing).
But the real attention-grabber is the mutant roster. Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy/Beast), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkhölme/Mystique), and James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops) are all set to return. And then there’s the headliner: Robert Downey Jr., but this time as the villain Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.
The Multiverse has allowed Marvel to mix and match characters from film history, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from their respective Spider-Man films, and some of the X-Men actors. But Doomsday is set to mark the end of the “Multiverse madness”.
While audiences wait for that seismic shift, Marvel has snuck in a smaller team-up on Disney+. LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails arrived quietly on November 14 but features its own shake-up—nearly every major character has been recast with new actor.

Troy Baker steps in for Hawkeye, Roger Craig Smith voices Captain America, Mick Wingert dons the Iron Man suit, Laura Bailey takes over as Black Widow, and James Mathis III fills the role of Black Panther. Even Magneto gets a new performance from Jason Alexander.
It’s a playful detour that still manages to assemble a full roster while nudging familiar characters in new directions.
LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails is now streaming on Disney+. Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters in December, 2026, followed by Secret Wars in December, 2027.
