Deborah Ann Woll has spent more than a decade inhabiting Karen Page, and the actress isn’t treating the end of Daredevil: Born Again as the end of the character. With Marvel Studios confirming that the Disney+ series will conclude with its third season, Woll has offered a measured response that stands in contrast to the frustration voiced by much of the fanbase.

Speaking with ComicBookMovie while promoting her new horror film, The Cycle (2026), Woll was asked how she felt about the cancellation and what she hoped might lie ahead for Karen. Her reaction was notably composed.
“It wasn’t super surprising to me, no,” Woll told the outlet. “I don’t know about hopes moving forward. I mean, obviously, in my mind, she’s a full person with a full life, and her life will continue. She’s going to continue to fight injustice, and whether they choose to include any of that is up to people far above my pay grade.”
Karen Page Exists Beyond Born Again
Woll’s answer separates the show from the character, and that distinction matters. Karen has been one of the most consistent figures in Marvel’s street-level corner since Netflix’s Daredevil debuted in 2015, and Woll’s portrayal carried directly into the Disney+ revival. The character has increasingly operated on her own terms, an independence set to take center stage in Season 3.
In Woll’s view, Karen’s drive to expose corruption doesn’t switch off when production wraps. Whether audiences see more of that mission is a separate question, and one that rests with Marvel’s leadership. Importantly, while the studio has confirmed the series is ending, it has not announced that any of its characters are being retired from the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Why Marvel Is Closing the Book
Daredevil: Born Again will wrap with Season 3, scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2027. That marks a significant change in direction for a series that once appeared set up for an ongoing, potentially yearly release pattern.
The announcement coincided with the exit of showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract was not renewed. His departure comes about two months after Season 3 finished filming, with post-production still in progress. Marvel has not identified who will guide the remaining work.
A Revival Rebuilt From the Ground Up
Scardapane’s exit is especially striking considering how much of the show he reshaped. Born Again was first ordered as an 18-episode season with Matt Corman and Chris Ord serving as head writers, and early plans reportedly favored a procedural structure over a direct continuation of the Netflix storylines.
When Marvel reevaluated the project during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, Corman and Ord departed. Scardapane, a veteran of Netflix’s The Punisher, came aboard alongside directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Together, they rewrote much of the story, shot a new pilot and additional episodes, and brought the series closer to the tone fans associated with the original.

That overhaul brought back several familiar faces. Woll returned as Karen, Elden Henson reprised Foggy Nelson, and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle was reinstated after the actor raised concerns about how the character had originally been written. Ayelet Zurer also came back as Vanessa Fisk after the role was initially recast.
The retooled first season premiered in 2025, reuniting Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, and Season 2 arrived in 2026.
The Door Remains Open
With filming complete, Season 3 is expected to deliver a final showdown between Daredevil and Kingpin. Still, the end of the series hardly closes off these characters. Matt Murdock has already appeared in projects outside Born Again, and Fisk has grown into a key player in Marvel’s grounded storytelling. If Woll is right, Karen may yet find her way back, too.
