Marvel fans already know Doctor Doom will pose a serious threat in Avengers: Doomsday (2026). But a new Comic-Con reveal suggests Robert Downey Jr.'s villain may have a terrifying history that audiences haven't seen.
With the movie approaching, Marvel Studios has offered another glimpse into Doom's mysterious past, and some of the discoveries raise troubling questions about several familiar superheroes.
The biggest concern isn't simply that Doom possesses powerful weapons. It's where those weapons may have come from and what happened to their original owners.
Three recognizable Marvel heroes could be in serious trouble, although their fates remain far from confirmed.
Marvel's Doctor Doom Reveal Sparks New Death Theories
During October's New York Comic-Con, Marvel Studios introduced an interactive experience featuring Doctor Doom's trophy room.
The display contained weapons, equipment, and other recognizable objects associated with eight Marvel heroes and villains.
However, the collection raised an uncomfortable possibility.
What if these weren't simply items Doom collected, but trophies taken from enemies he had already defeated?
Marvel hasn't confirmed that anyone died, and the objects could belong to alternate versions of familiar characters. Still, three particular discoveries have fans questioning just how dangerous Doom might be.

Thor's Legendary Weapon Appears in Pieces
Among the most concerning discoveries was a damaged fragment of Mjolnir, the legendary hammer wielded by Thor.
Made from the powerful metal Uru, Mjolnir has long represented the strength of the God of Thunder.
Seeing part of it in Doom's possession raises questions about whether the villain previously defeated a Thor Variant.
That possibility becomes even more concerning when considering the Doomsday trailer, which shows Doom stopping Stormbreaker with little effort.
If Doom has already overcome another version of Thor, Chris Hemsworth's character could face an enemy unlike anything he's encountered before.
Of course, a broken hammer doesn't prove its owner died. Doom could have acquired the fragment following a battle without killing Thor.
Nevertheless, its presence suggests a potentially dangerous history.

Another X-Men Hero Could Be in Danger
Thor isn't the only familiar superhero whose belongings appeared in Doom's collection.
The display also included Cyclops' distinctive visor, which Scott Summers uses to control his powerful optic blasts.
James Marsden will reprise his role as the X-Men leader in Avengers: Doomsday, making the discovery particularly interesting.
Unlike Mjolnir, the visor doesn't offer Doom an obvious advantage as a weapon.
Instead, it appears more like something he might keep to remember a victory.
There's another interesting detail, too.
The displayed visor looks different from the version Marsden's Cyclops wears in a teaser trailer.
That could suggest Doom previously encountered another version of Scott Summers, potentially making his upcoming confrontation with the X-Men far more personal.
However, Marvel hasn't confirmed what happened to the visor's original owner.
Silver Surfer's Fate Raises Even More Questions
Another damaged object could connect Doom to The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025).
The trophy room contains part of a silver surfboard, potentially belonging to Shalla-Bal, the Silver Surfer portrayed by Julia Garner.
Shalla-Bal seemingly sacrificed herself during her confrontation with Galactus, although questions remain about her ultimate fate.
Because Doom is connected to Earth-828, the universe introduced in the Fantastic Four movie, the damaged board raises another possibility.
Could Doom have encountered Shalla-Bal after those events?
If he defeated her, the board might represent another fallen superhero.
However, it could also belong to a different Silver Surfer Variant, potentially leaving room for Norrin Radd to assume the mantle eventually.

Doom's Other Trophies Suggest More Victims
The disturbing discoveries extend beyond those three heroes.
Doom's collection includes a Venom-related artifact that could connect to Venom: The Last Dance (2024), alongside the Ultimate Nullifier, a powerful weapon associated with Galactus.
Ultron's severed head also appears in the display, suggesting Doom may have destroyed another dangerous enemy.
Then there's Thanos' helmet.
In Marvel's Secret Wars (2015) comics, Doom kills Thanos by tearing his skeleton from his body.
With Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) approaching, the helmet raises the question of whether Marvel could revisit that brutal confrontation.
Another Mystery Surrounds Doom's Plans
Meanwhile, rumors about multiple Doctor Doom Variants have fueled speculation about the villain's future.
Official artwork featuring mysterious Latverian Witches has added to those questions, particularly because one character resembles Wanda Maximoff.
Wanda seemingly died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), but her potential return remains uncertain.
Marvel hasn't confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role.
For now, Doom's trophies and mysterious allies offer plenty of possibilities, but no definitive answers about who survived his previous encounters.
