One of the most anticipated days on the Walt Disney World Resort calendar just got a lot more competitive, and Annual Passholders without a theme park reservation might be out of luck.
Why May 22 Is Such a Big Deal at Disney's Hollywood Studios
The excitement surrounding Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 22 traces back to an announcement made at SXSW, when Walt Disney Imagineering revealed that Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run would be receiving a brand-new mission at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The update premieres on May 22 — the same day The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026) hits theaters nationwide.
The new mission puts guests alongside Din Djarin and Grogu on a bounty hunt, pursuing pirates and ex-Imperial officers across the galaxy. For the first time in the attraction's history, guests will have a say in where they're headed, choosing from destinations including Bespin (Cloud City), the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor, or the city-planet Coruscant.

Reservations Sold Out
As of Thursday, May 7, Annual Passholder theme park reservations for Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 22 are completely sold out across every pass tier — Incredi Pass, Sorcerer Pass, Pirate Pass, and Pixie Dust Pass included. Any Annual Passholder without an existing reservation for that date will be locked out of the park until after 2:00 p.m., assuming the park hasn't already hit capacity by then.
There is a workaround for some. Passholders who have reservations at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, or Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park on May 22 can still access Disney's Hollywood Studios by park hopping — but only after scanning into their originally reserved park first.
What Other Guests Should Know
Reservation availability varies slightly depending on ticket type. Walt Disney World Resort no longer requires theme park reservations for date-based tickets, meaning most standard ticketholders won't need to worry about securing a reservation in advance. However, some non-date-based tickets may still require a reservation, so guests should review their booking details carefully before heading to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge on May 22.
