Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton’s relationship is over 30 years old. It would be longer, but Cyrus is only 31, and Dolly Parton has known her since she was a baby.
Dolly Parton and Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, were friends when the Hannah Montana star was born, and Billy Ray made Dolly Parton Miley’s Godmother. Since then, Dolly has passed along life advice, and the two have collaborated on several projects, including Dolly appearing on four episodes of Hannah Montana.

But, according to Miley Cyrus, communication with Dolly Parton is not easy. One does not simply call, text, or direct message the country music legend, as Dolly does not have or use modern technology.
Instead, Cyrus has an unusual way of contacting her Godmother: she has to find a fax machine.
Cyrus told W Magazine:
No one else faxes. I literally have to access my lawyer’s office, because the lawyer is the only person who can still receive a fax.
Dolly wrote to me to say: ‘How much do I love you? As much as my heart can hold and as far as my arms can reach.’ It gets me choked up. I just love her so much.
Last Christmas, she gave me a whole mannequin, done in her proportions and wearing her outfit. It’s so major.

Country Music Legend Reba McEntire confirmed Cyrus’ account, saying that she does not have Dolly Parton’s phone number and can only contact her through faxes. McEntire even asked Kenny Rogers, who collaborated with Parton on “Islands in the Stream,” and he said, “No.”
In addition to their work on Hannah Montana, Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus collaborated on a cover of Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” for Parton’s “Rockstar” album. Parton has also not ruled out working on an album with Cyrus, who she says is like a daughter to her.
Parton told ABC News:
I love her like a child. I love her like my own. So when we get a chance to sing together, we really mean it. And I think our voices are very compatible, because she’s heard me all of her life. So all those little things that I do, she’s learned to do.
But then she’s got things of her own that I just fall into ’cause I know her so well. I know where she’s going and she knows where I’m going. So out of that really comes a really magical thing sometimes.

Dolly Parton has been busy with her Dollywood theme park, new family album, and a new Broadway show. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus is working on a new album, “Endless Summer Vacation.” No release date has been set.
With two of the hardest-working women in music, finding a fax machine to communicate with each other must be difficult. Perhaps someone should convince Parton to consider a cell phone.
