Netflix Confirms Major ‘Stranger Things’ Casting Return for Upcoming New Series

Few young television casts have become as recognizable as the stars of Stranger Things.

When the Netflix series premiered in 2016, actors including Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), and Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield) were largely unknown to mainstream audiences.

A decade later, they are among the most recognizable performers to emerge from the streaming era.

The same is true of the show's older stars, including David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), and Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley).

Their time as the Hawkins gang came to an end with Stranger Things Season 5, which served as the show's final live-action season. But Netflix isn't quite finished bringing those characters back.

The streamer has now confirmed that the voice cast for Stranger Things: Tales From '85 (2026), the animated series that revisits the younger versions of the characters, will return for the second season.

The project does not bring the original live-action actors back to voice their roles. Instead, the animated series has its own cast, which Netflix has confirmed will return for Season 2.

Brooklyn Davey Norstedt is back as Eleven, alongside Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max Mayfield, Luca Diaz as Mike Wheeler, Braxton Quinney as Dustin Henderson, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas Sinclair, and Ben Plessala as Will Byers.

The returning voice cast also includes Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper, Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Alessandra Antonelli as Nancy Wheeler, and Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter.

Tales From '85 takes place during the winter of 1985, between the second and third seasons of the original series. The first season introduced new adventures for the familiar Hawkins characters while expanding the franchise into animation.

Season 2 appears set to take that approach even further, with a new supernatural threat emerging in Hawkins.

The second season of Stranger Things: Tales From '85 premieres on Netflix on September 17, 2026, while the first season is now streaming.
