The idea of a Batman Multiverse was heavily teased by 2023’s The Flash, which promised appearances from multiple iterations of the Dark Knight in an adventure clearly influenced by the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which starred three film versions of the wall-crawler: Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield.
While the film did feature a few Batman cameos (Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, and even George Clooney), its focus on Barry Allen/The Flash meant the full Batman experience — and the interaction between heroes and villains across eras — never fully materialized.

But TT Games’ upcoming “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight” appears set to fill that gap, delivering the Multiverse adventure fans of Gotham have been waiting for.
The game is a third-person, open-world adventure from TT Games, and it’s bringing together several characters from across Batman’s cinematic history.
In addition to Bruce Wayne/Batman (Shai Matheson), other characters set to appear include Jim Gordon, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, The Joker, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Ra’s al Ghul.
However, many are modeled on iconic film portrayals. There’s Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman from Batman Returns (1992), Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight (2008), Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon from The Batman (2022), and Tom Hardy’s Bane from The Dark Knight Rises (2012), voiced in the game by Matt Berry of The IT Crowd fame.
Now, the recent Game Awards’ “Heroes & Villains” trailer has confirmed even more, adding Danny DeVito’s Penguin (Batman Returns), Tommy Lee Jones’ Harvey Dent/Two-Face (Batman Forever), and even Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze (Batman & Robin).
The latest trailer makes it clear that the game is fully embracing the Multiverse concept.
“One of the many great things about ‘LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’ is that it manifests all these different elements of Batman that we’ve loved over the years,” DC Studios’ co-CEO James Gunn explained in a behind-the-scenes featurette released in September. “People can experience this character maybe as fully as they ever have,” he added, “This game is an absolute celebration of everything Batman.”
“Legacy of the Dark Knight” will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on May 29, 2026.
