Last year, Disney fans bid farewell to Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, making way for a brand-new experience that promises to be nothing short of wickedly fun. Shortly after the closure announcement, Disney unveiled the name of its upcoming production: Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.

Stepping into the world of the Magic Mirror from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, this theatrical extravaganza invites guests to witness a lively debate between some of Disney’s most legendary villains.

“In this new show, the villains we love to loathe take center stage. To figure out who has been the most misunderstood, the Magic Mirror summons you (yes, you!) to help him decide who’s been the most unfairly treated,” Disney Parks Blog wrote earlier this week. “The likes of Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent step into the spotlight to make their case about why they’ve been treated the most unfairly over the years. Step into this mysterious realm, where Disney’s most infamous baddies finally get their chance to share their side of the story.”

While the show’s opening year had previously been confirmed as 2025, Disney officially revealed its debut date earlier this week—May 27, 2025!

“You don’t need to wait for a cursed spindle, a litter of puppies, or your motley pirate crew for this wickedness coming soon. Just announced, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will cast a spell over Hollywood Studios this Summer, starting on May 27, 2025,” the blog post confirmed on March 26, 2025.

The show will run multiple times throughout the day, offering plenty of chances to experience its immersive storytelling firsthand. Alongside the announcement, Disney shared a closer look at the intricate stage design—an impressive feat developed over two years.

Following the release of new concept art, the Disney Entertainment and Disney Parks social media channels offered fans a real-world glimpse of the production’s stunning set. A newly shared video showcases Disney cast members carefully hoisting the iconic Magic Mirror to its grand position on stage. This Magic Mirror, last seen in director Marc Webb’s Snow White live-action adaptation, now takes center stage in Hollywood Studios’ highly anticipated show.

We’ve been hard at work completely transforming Sunset Showcase at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the all-new show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.

From the mirror realm to the stage, find out once and for all…who has had the worst time as a villain?

The reveal of the Magic Mirror comes at an intriguing time, as Disney’s latest live-action film, Snow White, continues to stir discussion across social, cultural, and entertainment circles. Starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Webb’s film has been met with much discourse since its announcement. Notably, Hadestown star Patrick Page lends his voice to the Magic Mirror, originally introduced in Disney’s 1937 animated classic.

That’s not the only exciting addition coming on May 27. Also debuting that day is The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure, a dazzling new theatrical production that brings Ariel’s world to life in a fresh and vibrant retelling.

As if these exciting new shows weren’t enough, even more transformations are underway at Hollywood Studios. The Grand Avenue area will soon make way for Monsters, Inc., with Monstropolis set to take over the current home of locations like Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. Meanwhile, the beloved Muppets will find a new home at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, ensuring their antics continue in a fresh location.

And the magic doesn’t stop there. Over at Magic Kingdom, Disney has unveiled plans for a spectacular new villains-themed land. The expansion, set to be one of the most ambitious in the park’s history, will take shape in the area known as “Beyond Big Thunder.” While details remain under wraps, Disney has confirmed that more villainous adventures are on the horizon for the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
