A state-issued theme park incident report has revealed new details surrounding a fatal event that occurred at Universal Studios Florida late last year.

The report confirms that a 70-year-old woman died after riding Revenge of the Mummy, one of Universal Orlando Resort’s most recognizable thrill rides. The incident was summarized in the report with the line, “Revenge of the Mummy, 70 yof, unresponsive, later passed away at the
hospital.”
Records from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services identify the guest as Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas. On November 25, 2025, she reportedly became unresponsive during the ride and was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The incident has reignited ongoing conversations about the physical demands of thrill rides and the effectiveness of health advisories posted throughout theme parks. Revenge of the Mummy debuted in 2004 and combines storytelling elements with sudden bursts of speed, tight turns, and brief drops. Warning signs advise guests with heart conditions and other medical concerns to avoid the attraction.
Despite its lengthy operating history and strong popularity, the coaster is now at the center of renewed concern following the guest’s death.

This development comes during a turbulent period for Universal Orlando Resort, as the company recently faced another high-profile fatality tied to the Stardust Racers attraction at Universal Epic Universe. The death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala led to legal action and intense media scrutiny focused on ride safety practices and transparency.
That lawsuit was resolved only weeks ago, with Ben Crump Law announcing that all parties reached a private settlement. Attorney Ben Crump, who previously represented families in several major amusement ride cases, is now representing the family of the woman who died after riding Revenge of the Mummy.

“Attorney Ben Crump will represent the family of a 70-year-old woman who died after riding the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster at Universal Orlando Resort in November,” Click Orlando confirmed this week.
“According to a news release from Crump’s office, the family is ‘seeking answers and full transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding her death, including information related to the ride’s operations, safety protocols, maintenance history, and any available incident data,'” the report added.

Together, these cases have sparked heated discussion among theme park fans and critics alike, particularly across social media platforms. Many are questioning how much responsibility falls on guests versus operators when medical emergencies occur on attractions designed to push physical limits.
While investigators have not released further details regarding the cause of death, the situation has contributed to growing unease within the themed entertainment community. As Universal continues expanding its portfolio of complex attractions, the industry faces mounting pressure to ensure safety standards keep pace with innovation.
