A recent visit to one of Walt Disney World Resort’s upscale dining spots left a guest disappointed after a beloved perk was unexpectedly taken away during their meal. The experience unfolded at ‘Ohana, the popular Table Service restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
‘Ohana’s “Best Friends Breakfast” has long been a highlight for families wanting to meet fan-favorite characters like Lilo, Stitch, Mickey Mouse, and Pluto. The character interactions are a major draw, especially following the success of Walt Disney Studios’ live-action Lilo & Stitch (2025), released last month.
But on Sunday, Reddit user u/dociousmagocious1998 shared a frustrating experience at ‘Ohana. While their Saturday breakfast was underway, the guest discovered Lilo was missing from the character lineup.
“They give you a card with Lilo on it; however, she was not there yesterday,” the Walt Disney World Resort guest wrote. “My server said she was out surfing. I was very disappointed because she’s the only one of the 4 not at the parks, and I wanted a picture with her and Stitch before I saw the new movie later that day.”
Adding to the frustration, the breakfast was reportedly running behind schedule, and the guest felt the remaining characters were rushing their interactions.
“They were running 30 minutes behind, so I wonder if they axed her to save time or if someone called in sick,” they added. “The three I did see didn’t talk to me long haha. The servers were very friendly at least.”
Another guest, Redditor u/gonzfather, who attended the same breakfast, noticed that Lilo briefly appeared but then vanished again during the meal.
“I was also there yesterday. Lilo disappeared for a bit, then came back, then seemed to leave again,” they recalled. “In the brief time she was back, we were her second table, and she gave my very sweet girlfriend a very large and long hug — we sort of thought maybe Lilo needed it.”
Walt Disney World Resort’s official website reminds guests that “character appearances and entertainment are subject to change.”
