Peter Pan’s timeless message ‘never grow up’ has resonated with people for generations. Not only that, it’s a message that’s at the heart of all things Disney. But while we do our best to remain as innocent and as adventurous as possible, sometimes we’ve no choice but to roll with the seasons. And in doing so, sometimes one tends to lose their Christmas spirit too.
But there’s hope yet. If you’re looking to rekindle your love for the season, look no further than Disney World. Sure, it feels like the Holidays here all year round, but the actual festivities themselves can’t be beaten. Check out our favorite holiday experiences at the resort - and seeing as some of them continue into the New Year, there’s still time for you to put our word to the test!
6. Epcot International Festival of the Holidays - Epcot
The Holidays are a global tradition, so why not celebrate them in every culture possible by visiting Epcot for the International Festival of the Holidays? 11 World Showcase nations means you can celebrate the season here in a way like never before, by surrendering your senses to everything that’s on offer - sounds, smells, tastes and sights from all over the world.
There’s gorgeous décor, heart-warming music, delicious food, Holiday shopping and plenty more. You can even take part in the annual Holiday Cookie stroll – a festive feast for the eyes and the taste buds! But like Santa you must be quick, because you have only until December 30 to enjoy the magic!
5. Candlelight Processional - Epcot
As with every year, you can now enjoy one of Disney World’s favorite festive past times. Every night, listen as a hand-picked celebrity narrator tells a tale as old as time (no, not that one). All the while the Nativity story unfolds, a beautiful backdrop of music plays, courtesy of an orchestra and choir.
From now until the end of December, you can expect Geena Davis, Steven Curtis Chapman, Edward James Olmos, Marlee Matlin and Lisa Ling! Performances start each night from 5pm onwards – just be sure to download the My Disney Experience mobile app to keep up to date with schedules and showtimes. There’s no better place - and no better way - to hear this traditional timeless tale.
4. Holidays at Disney Springs – Disney Springs
For many people, shopping during the Holidays can be extra-stressful. But for many others, it’s considered one of the most enjoyable things to do. Delicious food, joyful street entertainment, festive cheer, and above all, plenty of gifts for you to peruse and choose. Whether it’s apparel, accessories, toys or fine art, Disney Springs has it all.
But like with any major shopping adventure you’ll need a time-out - so grab some great food at one of many venues. But don’t lose yourself to shopping entirely - get involved with the Christmas Tree Trail, Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt and pay a visit to Santa’s Chalet! It’s all great fun for the ‘ohana’.
