Relief is finally on the way for Walt Disney World guests. After more than three months of summer heat and humidity, Central Florida is set to welcome its first cold front of the season this week, bringing the coolest mornings the resort has seen since the early days of summer.
The front arrives just days after the official start of fall, and local forecasters are already celebrating the shift. As one Click Orlando forecast put it, “Mother Nature is wasting no time getting Central Florida into the Fall spirit!” The system is expected to deliver “a nice dose of cooler, less humid air into the area,” a welcome change for anyone logging miles between Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Disney controls plenty on property, from ride overhauls to the construction walls at nearly every park, but the weather is not one of them. This week, it is working in the guests' favor.
A Streak Finally Broken
The key number in this forecast is 110. According to local forecasters, “Temperatures drop down into the mid-upper 60s by Saturday morning for the first time in 110 days!”
That means Orlando has gone roughly three and a half months without a single morning dipping below 70 degrees. The streak covered the entire peak summer travel season, and even guests who showed up for rope drop found little escape from the sticky conditions.
Day-by-Day Breakdown
Thursday: The front moves in during the morning with spotty showers. The best rain chances are along the coast in Flagler and Volusia counties, and forecasters say “Coverage will top out at around 30%.” Walt Disney World sits well inland in Orange and Osceola counties, so the resort faces a comparatively low risk of rain.
Friday: Drier, cooler air “will begin to filter in early Friday morning and continue into the weekend.”
Saturday and Sunday: Expect “morning lows in the 60s” along with “highs in the mid 80s under a mix of sun and clouds.” With humidity dropping, afternoons should feel far more comfortable than anything guests have experienced since June.
Water Parks and Splash Rides
Cooler temperatures typically have the biggest impact on Disney's water parks. Disney's Blizzard Beach, themed as a ski resort that accidentally landed in the Florida sun, has seen delayed openings or temporary closures on chillier days in past seasons, and Disney reserves the right to adjust water park operations due to weather.
This front is not cold enough to cause major disruptions, but the first hour or two of the day may feel brisk. The same goes for Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom. A soaking that feels great in July is a lot less appealing on a breezy 60-degree morning.
Perfect Timing for Fall Events
The cooldown lines up well with the resort's seasonal lineup. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom both rely heavily on outdoor experiences, and party guests in particular should appreciate drier evenings after a summer of muggy nights.

Heading to Walt Disney World this weekend? Pack a light layer for mornings and evenings, and expect to ditch it by midday as temperatures climb into the mid-80s. Thursday carries a slight shower chance, with conditions improving from Friday on.
