2. Toy Story Land
Following the breakout hit of Toy Storyin the 90s, Pixar has gone on to create many more beloved films. And the more popular the film is, the more likely it will have a theme park presence. To satisfy guests, the Toy Story Midway Mania attraction was created and is a favorite across many Disney parks (and countries!) To up the game though, WDW opened an entire land dedicated to the adored trilogy in Hollywood Studios the summer of 2018. In this exciting addition, guests find themselves shrunk down to the size of toys and wandering around Andy’s fun-filled backyard. Let us give the highlights in more detail.
Attractions – In addition to the best Toy Story attraction, two new rides have been built to immerse you in the world of childhood fun. First of all, the Alien Swirling Saucers is a carnival-inspired spinning ride that features the quirkiest characters: the green aliens. (Best of all, the wait for this attraction isn’t too daunting!) However; you can’t leave Toy Story Land without riding WDW’s newest coaster, the Slinky Dog Dash. On this family-geared coaster, you can ride on the back of Slinky Dog as he zips, twists, and romps about the backyard. While this coaster is more in the vein of Seven Dwarves Mine Train than Space Mountain, it is sure to delight all kinds of riders with its smooth feel and incredible views of the park. Be warned though: The lines are long and the queue is not shaded. If you can’t score a FastPass+ during the summer months, wait to jump into the standby line at nightfall.
Dining– Hailed the most delicious quick service spot in Hollywood Studios, Woody’s Lunch Box was a surprise smash-hit for foodies. While Disney could’ve easily served up a menu of frozen pizza, this spot features inventive grilled cheese sandwiches, tater tot entrees, fresh brisket, and homemade pastries. (But really, we mustrecommend the melt-in-your-mouth BBQ brisket before anything else!) A glass of tall water in the otherwise “ok” dining options at Hollywood Studios, Woody’s Lunch Box literally thinks outside of the lunch box.
Ambiance – True to the feel of the movies, Toy Story Land is a playful, colorful spot that feeds on nostalgia above all else. Along with larger-than-life characters, toy-related Easter Eggs can be found in the design of the buildings, light fixtures, and even the height requirements signs. If possible, try not to miss these fine details as you rush to enjoy the offerings. In the spirit of Andy’s childhood, soak in every treasured moment.
