PETA Calls out ‘Bluey’ for Recent Episode on Controversial Subject

PETA, also known as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has called out the popular show Bluey for the content of a recent episode.

In a recent installment of Bluey, entitled “Slide,” the series tackles a thought-provoking topic that has sparked some controversy among viewers: the treatment of bugs.

Far too often, bugs are stigmatized as scary and repulsive creatures that should be avoided at all costs. However, Bluey takes a refreshingly different approach, urging its young audience to embrace empathy, respect, and kindness towards these often misunderstood little creatures.

This approach has garnered the attention of PETA, who is constantly advocating for the rights of bugs.

‘Bluey' Takes Pro-Bug Stance

“Slide” opens with the Heeler family embarking on an exciting adventure to the local playground, where a giant slide dazzles Bingo and her friends. As the episode progresses, Bingo stumbles upon a poor little bug struggling to make its way across the slide. Instead of reacting with disgust or fear, Bingo's natural curiosity and compassion kick in, leading her to extend a helping hand to the bug.

This heartwarming interaction serves as a powerful reminder that bugs, despite their diminutive size and unconventional appearance, play a crucial role in our ecosystem.

Rather than dismissing them as pests or something to be squashed, the episode encourages Bluey fans to foster an understanding of their importance and treat them with the same kindness and respect we would extend to any other living being.

Through this episode, Bingo skillfully teaches kids the value of empathy and compassion towards all forms of life, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they may be. By showing that it's possible to find joy and connection through simple interactions with bugs, “Slide” sparks a sense of wonder and opens the door to a world of imaginative play and exploration.

‘Bluey' Receives Award

Furthermore, “Slide” from the new Bluey season presents an opportunity for parents and caregivers to engage in meaningful conversations with their children about the importance of respecting nature and its inhabitants. This episode presents bugs not only as fascinating creatures in their own right but also as essential elements of the natural world that should be cherished and protected.

As with any Bluey episode, the animation and storytelling in “Slide” are top-notch. Joe Brumm and his team at BBC Studios Distribution Ltd. have once again brought the characters to life with their signature charm and wit. The vibrant visuals and relatable dialogue make it easy for children to become fully immersed in the storyline while also subtly conveying valuable life lessons.

The episode even caught the attention of PETA, who awarded Bluey with a special award for their commitment to protecting bugs. PETA bestowed the “Bestie Bug Award” to Bluey for the episode, saying;

“With their compassionate actions, Bingo and Lila demonstrate that it’s not ‘trifficult’ to show consideration for even the smallest beings among us. PETA applauds this episode’s kind message and encourages kids and parents everywhere to remember that every bug is someone who deserves kindness.”

Congratulations to Bluey for this unique award!
