Planning a Disney Trip? These Attractions Could Throw Off Your Day

Disney World is magical, sure—but it’s also hot, crowded, and a real test of patience in the middle of summer. If you’re planning a trip and think you’ll breeze through your favorite rides, think again. There are a few attractions that completely took over our day, and not always in a good way.

Here’s what we learned the sweaty, slow, slightly regrettable way.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

We love Marvel. We love roller coasters. We do not love standing in line for 80 minutes after lunch when it’s 95 degrees. With Cosmic Rewind moving to a regular standby line, it’s become one of the longest waits in EPCOT. The ride was amazing—don’t get us wrong—but it threw off our whole plan for the day.

Flight of Passage?

Animal Kingdom’s most immersive ride still packs a crowd. We thought hitting Flight of Passage early would help, but we still waited over an hour. The worst part? Parts of the line are outdoors, and when the sun’s out in full force, that line feels never-ending. Beautiful ride, just rough conditions.

Floating mountains and lush greenery resembling a scene from Pandora, the world from the film "Avatar." Rocky structures are entwined with vines and trees, with plants and foliage in the foreground and a bright sky in the background.

Slinky Dog

Slinky Dog Dash was a hit with our kids. The problem? Toy Story Land might be the hottest part of Disney World. We stood in direct sunlight with a line that felt more like a hike than a queue. It was the kind of wait that makes you question your life choices.

TRON Lightcycle/ Run  Was Awesome

At Magic Kingdom, TRON Lightcycle / Run still gets a lot of attention, and understandably so—it looks amazing and delivers a unique ride experience. But many guests are walking away feeling… a little underwhelmed. The queue is impressive, the launch is exhilarating, but the ride itself is over in less than a minute. After waiting nearly an hour—or paying for Lightning Lane—that short duration is leaving some guests questioning whether it’s worth prioritizing during a packed summer day.

Plan or Be Miserable

We’re not saying skip these rides—they’re amazing. But they are serious time sinks during the summer. If you’re going, make a plan. Hydrate. Be flexible. And maybe bring a fan and a snack. Disney in summer is no joke, and these rides prove it.

Andrew Boardwine

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
