Planning for Walt Disney World in 6 Easy Steps

4. Secure your FastPass+ selections.

Now that you have your resort hotel booked and your dining reservations made, it’s time to make your FastPass+ selections. You’ll be able to do this 60 days in advance of your arrival date to your resort hotel. Once you’re in that 60-day window, you’ll need to access the My Disney Experience app or visit www.mydisneyexperience.com to make your selections. You’ll be allowed 3 FastPass+ selections (based on an attraction tier system) per day in the parks for each member of your traveling party, up to 7 days at a time. This is a very important part of planning your trip, especially if you’re visiting Disney during the summer months or during holiday time!

5. Purchase Memory Maker.

Memory Maker is a digital package that keeps all your family’s ride photos and PhotoPass photos from all over the Disney World Resort in one streamlined spot. When you enjoy a ride at which photos are taken by stationary cameras, those photos will be automatically added to your Disney account (at a few attractions, you will need to tap your MagicBand to the kiosk that corresponds with your photos), as will any photos taken of you and your family by Disney’s PhotoPass Photographers. Be sure to purchase Memory Maker before your trip so that your ride photos are uploaded from the first day of your trip. This is important since Memory Maker can purchased later, but it’s not retroactive. The pictures in your Memory Maker account are yours to import from the beginning! You can buy Memory Maker by calling (407) W-DISNEY or by visiting disneyworld.disney.go.com. The advance purchase price is $169, and the non-advance price is $199. Memory Maker is a must for your trip!

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
