After 71 Years, Disneyland Confirms Overhaul of Main Street, U.S.A.

A months-long construction project on one of Main Street, U.S.A.'s most beloved dining destinations has revealed its first visible results, and the timing coincides with an upcoming pause in one of Disneyland Park's most popular character dining experiences.

Disneyland Resort installed beige scrim over the Plaza Inn facade back in June, concealing an exterior construction project on the Main Street, U.S.A. Table-Service restaurant. The scrim came down late last month, and WDWNT documented what had been done underneath it:

The side of the building has been repainted in what appears to be the same cream color as before, but the finish looks considerably fresher, shinier, and more polished than the surrounding areas. A tree that had previously fallen near the restaurant was also replaced as part of the work in the area.

The result is a visible contrast between the newly refreshed section of the Plaza Inn facade and the older, more weathered surfaces nearby. Disneyland Resort has not made any public statement about the exterior project.

Minnie Mouse Departing the Breakfast Table — Temporarily

The facade reveal arrives just weeks before the Plaza Inn pauses its signature dining offering. The “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park” character dining experience — which brings Minnie Mouse and other characters to the restaurant for the morning meal — is heading into an extended break beginning August 17, 2026. The pause was originally scheduled to begin on August 10 before Disneyland Resort extended the window by one week in late July.

Lunch and dinner service at the Plaza Inn will continue normally throughout the pause. Character dining at the restaurant is exclusively a breakfast offering, so those meals are unaffected.

Disneyland Resort hasn't explained why the “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park” experience is taking a break or what prompted the one-week delay in the start date. The character dining experience is expected to return sometime in late September, though no exact date has been announced.
