Popular Disney Water Park Announced To Be Shutting Down This Fall

The theme park giant has officially listed Blizzard Beach as closing after Sunday, September 7, 2025. Beginning the very next day, the ski-resort-themed water park will be off the schedule, with no listed operating hours through at least November.

While no official statement has been released about the reasoning behind the closure, it strongly aligns with Disney’s typical seasonal rotation between its two water parks—Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Historically, only one water park is open at a time to allow for maintenance and refurbishment at the other.

Earlier this year, both water parks operated simultaneously for the first time since 2019. It was a welcome return for guests who enjoy the flexibility of choosing between Blizzard Beach’s icy theme and Typhoon Lagoon’s island vibes. But that dual operation was never guaranteed to last. And now, Disney appears to be returning to the alternating pattern it’s followed for years.

This closure may impact some fall vacation plans, especially for guests hoping to experience both water parks in a single visit. Those traveling in September should take note—Blizzard Beach will not be an option after the first full weekend of the month.

However, Typhoon Lagoon is expected to remain open throughout the fall season. Once the refurbishment of Blizzard Beach is complete—likely late this year or in early 2026—the pattern may flip, with Typhoon Lagoon closing temporarily next.

It’s worth pointing out that Disney resort guests still benefit from the 2025 policy of free water park admission on check-in day. This offer could help ease the inconvenience for those missing out on a park that’s temporarily closed.

Even without an official announcement, the update to the online calendar confirms the operational pause. In typical Disney fashion, this kind of information often appears in calendar form before being confirmed through a broader statement.

Those who were planning to ride Summit Plummet, one of Disney’s most thrilling water slides, or explore the snow-capped water features of Blizzard Beach, should consider moving up their visit to avoid missing out.

This development isn’t surprising, but it does mark a return to normal operations. And with both parks now requiring consistent upkeep, it’s logical for Disney to rotate them out seasonally once again.

For now, all eyes turn to Typhoon Lagoon, which will be the sole water park in operation heading into the cooler months. Be sure to plan accordingly if water park fun is on your agenda.

Stay tuned for any further updates as Disney provides more details.
