When it comes to shopping at Walt Disney World, iconic items like Mickey Ears, Loungefly Backpacks, and Spirit Jerseys likely come to mind. But there’s much more to discover beyond merchandise featuring Mickey Mouse and other beloved Disney characters. Disney Springs, Walt Disney World’s expansive shopping, dining, and entertainment district, offers a treasure trove of unique and exciting finds.
Originally opening in 1975, Disney Springs has undergone a significant evolution over the years, including several name changes. For 18 years, it was known as Downtown Disney—a name many Disney enthusiasts still use today. However, in 2013, Disney announced a major expansion, and by 2015, the area was officially rebranded as Disney Springs.

A viral Reddit post brought the situation to light, with user Away_Replacement_236 sharing their shock over the state of the store.
Thought this was interesting… I come down to WDW usually ~3 or 4 times a year. Always come for NYE. Almost always make a point to go to the lego store @ the springs and have never seen this or anything remotely close for that matter. They were out of stock of every item except one. They spread their stock of the one item all around the store to semi fill the shelves but it still looked so odd. They had people at the front door making an announcement as you walked in. Has anyone experienced this in the past?
According to the user, the remaining inventory — a single product — was spread across shelves to mask the lack of stock. Guests entering the store were warned by employees at the door about the limited selection, a move that many appreciated for its transparency despite the disappointment.
Lego Store @ Springs Completely Out of Stock

The sudden lack of LEGO sets left many scratching their heads. Some speculated that the shortage was related to LEGO’s highly anticipated January 1 product launch, which includes over 140 new sets. The timing suggests that the store may have been holding off on restocking until the new releases were available, but this hasn’t been confirmed by Disney or LEGO.
Another plausible explanation is the sheer volume of holiday shoppers. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is one of the busiest times at Walt Disney World, with record-breaking crowds swarming the parks and shopping areas. The LEGO Store, already a popular destination, may have simply sold out of its inventory due to the overwhelming demand.
Despite the unusual circumstances, many guests were quick to commend the store’s cast members for maintaining a positive atmosphere. Employees reportedly kept the magic alive by engaging children in creative activities, encouraging them to build their own LEGO designs with available materials.
“They did everything they could to make the experience fun,” one commenter noted. “Even though the shelves were empty, the cast members’ energy and enthusiasm really stood out.”
This dedication to guest experience is a hallmark of Disney’s customer service, and it’s clear that the LEGO Store’s team rose to the occasion.
