Big changes are coming to Disney World in 2025 as both It’s Tough to Be a Bug and MuppetVision 3D are set to close their doors. While these closures will be bittersweet for longtime fans, they pave the way for new experiences that are sure to delight visitors.

It’s Tough to Be a Bug, a staple at Disney’s Animal Kingdom since the park’s opening, is set to close on March 17, 2025. Housed within the iconic Tree of Life, this 3D show gave guests an up-close look at the world of insects, hosted by Flik from Pixar’s A Bug’s Life. In its place, Disney will debut Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, featuring beloved characters like Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, along with a brand-new song for guests to enjoy.
Interestingly, ahead of its closure, visitors to It’s Tough to Be a Bug noticed a significant change: the black bug-themed 3D glasses were replaced with the purple glasses traditionally used for MuppetVision 3D. This switch signals that Disney isn’t restocking the bug-themed glasses, and it’s possible these purple glasses will be used in the upcoming Zootopia show. Cast Members have indicated that the bug glasses are unlikely to make a return, aligning with the attraction’s closure timeline.

Meanwhile, over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, MuppetVision 3D is also facing closure. This quirky, fun-filled 3D experience starring the Muppets has been a fan favorite for years, but it will officially close on June 8, 2025. The reuse of its signature glasses elsewhere suggests that Disney is looking to cut costs, especially given the wave of closures currently happening across the parks.

Big Thunder Mountain is temporarily closed, Test Track is under refurbishment, DinoLand has shut down to be transformed into a new land, and the Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster will be rethemed from Aerosmith to the Muppets. With so many changes underway, Disney seems to be reallocating resources and tightening budgets while preparing to introduce new attractions.
While fans will miss these beloved shows, Disney’s ever-evolving attractions continue to offer fresh, engaging experiences. Guests hoping to catch It’s Tough to Be a Bug or MuppetVision 3D one last time should plan their visits soon before these iconic shows take their final bow.
