New Books & Disney+ Series About S.E.A. (Society of Explorers & Adventurers) Coming Soon

Lots of the news out of this year’s Destination D23 event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort focused on Disney Parks and resorts, but one exciting piece of news is sure to be a welcome addition for Disney fans both in the parks and at home!

If you have ever wanted to learn more about S.E.A., the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, you are in luck! A brand new adventure series will debut from Disney Publishing in 2022 that will give some insight into the S.E.A. and take readers into immersive new worlds right from home.

The series will be written by international best-selling author Julie Kagawa, and will be titled “Shinji Takahashi and the Mark of the Coat.” The series’ target audience will be middle grade readers however much like other Disney Publishing series we think they will be a fun read for adults, too, especially if you are hoping to learn more about the S.E.A. and make new connections to how the society is represented in Disney parks and attractions around the world.

The new series will be available wherever books are sold beginning in April 2022, and we will share updates from Disney Publishing Worldwide, including when you will be able to preorder or find the books on shopDisney, as we have them.

During Destination D23, Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro also shared the news that a series on S.E.A. is in development for Disney+ however we do not have further details on a title or release date for the streaming series at this time.

Currently Guests can see nods to S.E.A. in Disney parks and attractions including the Jungle Cruise, multiple areas in Tokyo DisneySea, aboard Disney Cruise Line, through select lines of merchandise, restaurants like the Skipper Canteen in the Magic Kingdom, and more.
