4. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
For decades Disney movies graced silver screens with 2D animation. Then as the 90s and 00s rolled in, so did 3D animation. But when Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway comes chugging into Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year, you can grace the silver screen yourself – and not in 2D or 3D, but in “2 and a ½ D”!
Join Mickey and Minnie aboard Goofy’s steam train as you depart the comfortable setting of a theater auditorium for a whimsical adventure. Prepare to literally enter the dazzling world of the screen in front of you on what will be one of the most innovative adventures yet!
5. Star Wars-themed Hotel – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The Star Wars-themed hotel will “dock” shortly after Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This makes perfect sense considering that the hotel will be located near the all-new remote trading outpost of Batuu. Impressive concept art and mind-blowing details so far confirm it will be one of the most interactive and immersive hotel experiences in the galaxy.
Guests will have the opportunity to don space-themed attire as they’re thrust into the hustle and bustle of a living, breathing starship, in which views of space will adorn each window. And much like the themed land outside, you can engage with interactive storylines to make your stay as, ahem, Force-some as possible.
6. 50th Anniversary Celebrations & Additions – Walt Disney World Resort
In 2021 Walt Disney World Resort will celebrate its 50th anniversary, and with that you’ll uncover a whole new world of celebrations - décor, merchandise, food, parades, fireworks and illuminations and so on - you know the drill.
But you can also expect to see brand new additions to the theme parks such as a Ratatouille-themed attraction, a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed attraction and a Tron-themed attraction. 2021 might be something of a long time away, but at least it won’t be in a galaxy far, far away.
You can enjoy even more adventures than those on this list, too, such as Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy which will tear through Disney’s Hollywood Studios in March, and the NBA Experience which will be slam-dunking its way into Disney Springs this summer!
