Kidani Village is losing six amenities simultaneously this October. Guests are paying Deluxe Villa rates for the privilege.
Quick context.
Look, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is not a budget play, and that changes how this news hits.
Kidani Village is a Deluxe Villa property. People booking it are paying Deluxe prices or burning Disney Vacation Club points they saved specifically for this resort. Nobody books this one on a whim.
And the draw is not just the room. Animal Kingdom Lodge is built around the traditional African kraal, with a horseshoe-curved design opening onto lush savannas where over 30 species of African wildlife roam free. The lobby spaces, observation decks, and common areas are genuinely part of what that rate buys.
So when those spaces disappear behind black curtains, guests notice in a way they would not at a Value resort.
Which is happening right now. For months.
What You Will Find Today at Disney
Walk through Kidani Village, and chunks of the main lobby are sealed off.
One entrance has a sign reading “Pardon our pixie dust. This entrance is closed for refurbishment,” with an arrow pointing toward the main lobby and check-in.
Black curtains hide construction in the main lobby, with another sign: “Please pardon our pixie dust. This area is under refurbishment.”
Per Disney's official notice, work began on August 17 and is expected to finish in early November.

That October Phase Will Be Brutal For Disney
Go back and read that last list.
Community Hall, the arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the observation deck all vanish at the same time. That is a massive slice of the resort's shared amenities offline at once.
The laundry room is the sneaky one. Families on longer stays depend on it, and long stays describe a huge portion of DVC guests at a villa property. Community Hall closing pulls another amenity DVC members specifically use.
Booked in that window? Deal with it now, not at check-in.
The Disney Gift Shop Situation
Johari Treasures got moved during the work.
It relocated to the Palace Library, which is also running check-in while the main lobby is down.
Disney lists it closed August 17 through 28, with reporting pointing to an August 29 reopening.
And here is a wrinkle worth catching. The Palace Library is currently doubling as check-in and shop. The Palace Library also closes October 26 through November 6.
Disney Is Telling You It Will Be Loud
One line in the official notice matters.
Guests may see or hear construction activity in the lobby area during daytime hours, including periods of more noticeable noise, until the work is done.
That is Disney flatly admitting you will hear this. At a resort where atmosphere is a genuine part of the value, that lands.
Should You Move Your Disney Reservation
Mostly no. Depends when you are going.
Between now and October 9? Relocated check-in and construction curtains. Annoying, survivable.
September 28 to October 9? Add the north elevators and observation deck to the missing list.
October 26 to November 6? That one deserves an actual conversation. Six amenities down together is a real reduction in what you are getting.
Savanna views, animal programs, and pool areas are untouched the whole time, and those are the real reason anyone books here.
Write These Down
Project runs August 17 through early November 2026.
Three phases matter. Main lobby through October 9. North corridor September 28 to October 9. South corridor October 26 to November 6.
