Did you know there’s a new snake slithering around Animal Kingdom?

Well, not quite slithering around—but Disney just introduced a Burmese Python exhibit at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and it’s a sight to see! Known for their massive size and serious appetite, Burmese Pythons have made quite the name for themselves, especially in Florida’s wilds.

This new addition might surprise some Disney fans because Burmese Pythons are actually an invasive species here in Florida, and they are on Florida’s Nonnative Prohibited Species List. They were originally brought over as exotic pets, but over the years, some managed to escape or were released, eventually finding a home in the Florida Everglades.

They’re thriving a little too well, causing all kinds of trouble for the local animals that call the Everglades home. The snake population has boomed, and as you can guess, that’s not great news for the area’s rabbits, birds, and other small animals.

So why bring one of these snakes to Animal Kingdom? Disney’s goal is to educate guests on how invasive species can shake things up in an ecosystem. The Burmese Python exhibit is surrounded by helpful signs and infographics that lay out what’s going on with these snakes in the wild and why it’s so important to protect native animals and their habitats.

If you’re curious to check out this new reptilian resident, you can catch a ride on the Wildlife Express Train over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Once you’re there, you’ll not only get to see this jaw-dropping python but also check out other fun experiences, like Disney’s Animation Experience, where you can draw your favorite characters! Just a heads-up: be sure to plan your visit to Rafiki’s Planet Watch earlier in the day because the last train leaves before Animal Kingdom officially closes.

This exhibit is Disney’s way of showing us that there’s more to Animal Kingdom than just entertainment—it’s about learning, caring, and connecting with the world around us. So, next time you’re in the park, take a little detour to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and get ready to be wowed by Disney’s wild side!
