Soarin’ Across America Attraction Closed, Removed From Official Disney App

Soarin' Across America's long-awaited West Coast debut didn't go quite as planned Thursday morning, as one of the attraction's two theaters broke down during its opening hours. The ride even disappeared from the Disneyland Resort app.

Soarin' Across America officially opened at Disney California Adventure Park on July 2, more than a month after the patriotic overlay — created to celebrate the United States' 250th anniversary — debuted at Walt Disney World Resort‘s EPCOT on May 26. The flight simulator takes guests on a sweeping journey through natural landscapes and stunning cityscapes from coast to coast.

Unfortunately, the celebrations were short-lived. According to WDWNT, one of the two theaters showing the film — Concourse One, the left theater — began experiencing technical issues during the attraction's opening hours. The screen reportedly displayed colorful lines and glitched while playing the film before ultimately breaking down entirely. The first group of guests to board Concourse One experienced the malfunction firsthand, and the second group was evacuated before their ride even began.

Mid-morning, Soarin' Across America disappeared from the Disneyland Resort app entirely — no wait time, no “temporarily closed” status, nothing. The Disney California Adventure Park map still showed the Soarin' building, but there was no indication that the Across America overlay was operating.

Disneyland Resort has not issued any statement about the technical issues. Guests on the scene reported that the attraction reopened fully after approximately 45 minutes, though the app had still not updated to reflect a working wait time at the time of this report.

Southern California Disney Park guests planning to ride should check directly with cast members at the Grizzly Peak entrance for the most current operational status before getting in line.
