No trip to the Walt Disney World Resort would be complete without the perfect souvenir to remember your time in the Most Magical Place on Earth. And every Disney fan has their favorite souvenir that they buy for each trip.
Some people will gravitate toward Minnie Ears to remember their Disney World vacation or even a pin. Or maybe you go with a Disney World Christmas ornament so that your tree at home looks like it belongs in Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in the Magic Kingdom.
But no matter what you decide to buy on your Walt Disney World trip, everyone has a budget. And sure, we all know that budgets go out the window when you’re at Disney World, but at least you have one.
And sure, you may splurge a little for that shirt you saw at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or the hat at Hollywood Studios, but that’s only an extra $30 or so.
So, while we all tend to lose our feelings for money and spending at Disney World, we never go that far overboard. No one would drop, say, $79,000 on a souvenir, would they?
Disney World hopes that someone will pay as much as a Tesla to take home a piece of the Walt Disney World Resort.
Deep in EPCOT at the Germany Pavilion in the World Showcase, Disney is selling a $79,000 crystal replica of Spaceship Earth. That is correct—a Disney World souvenir for the same price as a very nice car.
According to the Certificate of Authenticity, the replica of Spaceship Earth was created by the Arribas Brothers exclusively for Walt Disney Parks. It contains over 122,800 hand-set Austrian crystal stones.
The Arribas Brothers’ creation is limited to 150 and took 459 hours to complete each one.
That said, the most remarkable part is not the cost nor the time put into this replica Spaceship Earth. On display was number two of 150, meaning someone had already purchased number one.
So, sitting in someone’s living room is a $79,000 reminder of their trip to Disney World and impulse buying.
The next time you head to the World Showcase, stop at the Germany Pavilion and see what you can purchase for $79,000. You may want to stop for a few drinks first, though.
But remember, as you walk around Kunstarbeit in Kristall in EPCOT, bring your checkbook because if you break it, you buy it.
Would you buy a $79,000 souvenir from Kunstarbeit in Kristall at the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT?
