Spectacular Ways to Celebrate a Birthday at Disney World Resort

Few can argue that there is a better place to celebrate than Walt Disney World. Regardless of what you’re commemorating (e.g. engagements, reunions, time off from work), you’ll be hard pressed to find a more joyous atmosphere. Specifically, we’re going to discuss why WDW is the perfect location to celebrate your birthday or the birthday of a loved one. As with all things, Disney never misses an opportunity to transform a happy occasion into an unforgettable experience. Here are just a few ways that Disney magically enhances the “happy” in “happy birthday”!

1.     Don a Button

Unless you’re a first-time visitor, you’re no stranger to Celebration buttons. Cast members hand out these complimentary buttons for all kinds of cheerful reasons such as engagements, graduations, and (of course) birthdays! All you have to do is casually mention you’re celebrating a birthday to a cast member and they will give you a button to proudly pin to your shirt. Best of all, wearing this button often means that other cast members, characters, and fellow guests will be wishing you happy birthday. If these random acts of kindness make you smile, you’ll be grinning from ear to ear after an entire day of well wishes.

2.     Have a Special Meal

When making advance dining reservations, cast members will always ask “Are you celebrating anything that day?” Well, if you’re going to be in the happiest place on earth for a birthday, don’t hesitate to say so. Most table-service restaurants will commemorate your birthday by presenting you with a free birthday cupcake at the end of your meal. Your server may even invite the entire restaurant to sing you “Happy Birthday!” Personally, I have celebrated birthdays at character meals and those are particularly special experiences. Not only will you receive a free dessert, but you’ll receive a birthday card that was signed by every visiting character! If there’s anything cooler than receiving a birthday card from Mickey, then I don’t know what that is.

3.     Treat Yourself

What is a birthday without presents? If you’re celebrating a loved one’s special day, then take this opportunity to let them pick out a special souvenir. You can even order a special floral/gift/sweets arrangement to be delivered for the birthday princess/prince. Consider treating your wife to a spa day at The Grand Floridian Hotel. Splurge to see your daughter receive a princess makeover at the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique.
