Sony is bringing back an old release strategy for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
For the past several years, Marvel Studios largely pushed its biggest movies out globally at the same time. The approach helped avoid spoilers leaking online before American audiences had the chance to see major MCU moments opening weekend.

That will not be the case for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Sony Pictures has confirmed that several international territories will receive the next Spider-Man movie before its U.S. debut, splitting the filmās rollout across multiple days instead of using a synchronized global launch.
Tom Holland returns in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, his first solo Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man: No Way Home became one of the highest-grossing films in box office history back in 2021.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film picks up after the events of No Way Home, which ended with Peter Parker erased from public memory after Doctor Strangeās (Benedict Cumberbatch) spell rewrote reality.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are currently positioning the movie as one of the next major chapters in the Multiverse Saga ahead of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
International Audiences Will See the Film First
While the United States keeps its July 31, 2026, release date, several overseas markets will now receive the film earlier.
Sonyās regional distribution accounts confirmed Germany and the Philippines will launch Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 29. Other territories, including Italy, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Ukraine, are expected to begin screenings on July 30.
That means social media spoilers could begin circulating online days before many American audiences see the movie.

The staggered rollout is not new for Marvel or Sony. Earlier MCU films regularly debuted internationally before North America during the franchiseās first decade.
Iron Man opened overseas ahead of its U.S. release in 2008. Several Spider-Man films later followed the same strategy.
Spider-Man: Homecoming premiered early in parts of Europe in 2017. Spider-Man: Far From Home also reached select international markets before arriving in the United States.
Even Spider-Man: No Way Home opened first in countries including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and South Korea before launching domestically two days later.

Marvel later shifted toward tighter global launches for crossover films like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame as online spoilers became increasingly difficult to contain.
China Release Gives Marvel a Major Win
Alongside the updated release rollout, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has also secured a theatrical release in China.
That marks a significant change from Spider-Man: No Way Home, which never received approval to open there.
Reports at the time suggested Chinese regulators objected to the filmās heavy use of the Statue of Liberty during its final battle sequence.

A China release could dramatically increase the sequelās worldwide box office potential, especially as Marvel continues rebuilding momentum following several uneven theatrical releases during the Multiverse Saga era.
Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day largely took place in the United Kingdom, with Glasgow once again transformed into New York City during filming.
Large-scale practical sequences were shot across the city, with tanks, explosions, and stunt work appearing throughout several downtown streets.
Tom Holland previously described the movie as a return to āold-school filmmakingā after Spider-Man: No Way Home relied heavily on soundstage production during pandemic restrictions.

The movie arrives ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently scheduled for December 18, 2026. Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to Marvel as Doctor Doom after previously leaving the franchise following Avengers: Endgame.
