Spooky Photo Ops Arrive at Walt Disney World for ‘Halfway to Halloween’

Walt Disney World is celebrating ‘Halfway to Halloween’ by launching new, and unseasonably spooky offerings in Disney Parks and online for fans following along at home! In addition to an online Hocus Pocus (1993) watch party, Disney has a special (and secretive) live stream coming tomorrow night, April 28, 2022. The latest ‘Halfway to Halloween’ update comes to Walt Disney World in the form of new photo ops at the Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

The Disney Parks Blog just shared that the newest Disney PhotoPass lens debuts today at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While visiting the park, walk down Sunset Boulevard toward the Hollywood Tower Hotel (close enough to hear the screams of those inside!) The lens will then be available to Guests through the My Disney Experience app who have purchased Disney Genie+ for the day in this Disney park.

It would not be any kind of Halloween celebration without adding something new and spooky to the Haunted Mansion, so the next new photo offering can be found right in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom. This photo op will show up on your My Disney Experience account after you ride the attraction, and it will feature a different “hitchhiking ghost” in your shot each time you ride!

Since the Haunted Mansion does not allow flash photography (it frightens the spirits!) you can find the photo spot on the attraction at a time when lightning strikes. While other Disney attractions with on-ride photos may have photo walls by the exit for you to link your photos, remember that this one will be linked to your My Disney Experience account automatically.

To be sure your photo will show up, enable Bluetooth for the My Disney Experience app before you ride. (You will need to be sure you’ve logged into the app earlier on the same day and that your phone is not running on low power mode.) Or, simply wear a MagicBand that is linked to your account.

Enjoy the new PhotoPass offerings at Walt Disney World, and Happy (early) Halloween!
