Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is set to close at one Disney park.
For decades, the motion-simulator attraction has served as a cornerstone of Disney’s relationship with Star Wars, blending randomized storytelling with cutting-edge ride systems.

The Legacy of Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
Debuting in 1987, Star Tours was Disney's first major collaboration with Lucasfilm, opening at Disneyland before expanding globally. The original version placed guests on a Starspeeder 3000 flight to Endor, featuring then-groundbreaking simulator technology and a single, linear storyline.
In 2011, Disney overhauled the attraction, relaunching it as Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. The upgrade introduced 3D visuals, digital projection, and a randomized ride system capable of generating dozens of different story combinations on each flight.
That flexibility has allowed Disney to continually refresh the experience. New destinations, characters – such as Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega) – and planets were added to coincide with the sequel trilogy and later Disney+ series, ensuring the ride evolved alongside the wider Star Wars canon rather than becoming a static legacy attraction.

Today, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue operates at multiple Disney parks worldwide, including Disneyland Paris, where it anchors the Star Wars presence in Discoveryland alongside other space-themed offerings.
Closure Date Confirmed for Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
Disney has now confirmed that Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disneyland Paris will close from March 9, 2026, through April 4, 2026. No official reason has been provided for the temporary shutdown.
The closure window is relatively brief and notably concludes well ahead of May 4, allowing the attraction to return in time for Star Wars Day (aka May 4). Disney has not announced whether the downtime will include technical maintenance, minor updates, or behind-the-scenes system work.

During the closure, guests seeking a galactic fix will still have access to Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, also located in Discoveryland. Disney describes the ride as an epic mission where guests “blast off and do battle with the evil Empire.”
Originally opening as Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune in 1995, the attraction has undergone several transformations. The Star Wars overlay debuted in 2017, replacing the original Jules Verne-inspired storyline with an X-wing versus TIE fighter space battle.
Despite its popularity, Hyperspace Mountain has faced recurrent technical issues over the years, including downtime linked to its aging launch system and complex onboard effects. These challenges have fueled long-running rumors within the fan community.

Unconfirmed reports have repeatedly suggested the attraction could close for an extended refurbishment, potentially lasting up to two years, to restore its original Space Mountain theme. Disney has never formally announced such plans, but speculation continues to circulate.
For now, Disneyland Paris guests can expect Hyperspace Mountain to remain operational during Star Tours’ closure, offering an alternative Star Wars experience while one iconic adventure temporarily steps offline.
