Stitch’s Comeback Could Mean Big Changes for Tomorrowland

Disney fans have been crossing their fingers for years that Stitch would make a real return to Magic Kingdom. Since Stitch’s Great Escape! closed up shop in 2018, there’s been a Stitch-sized hole in Tomorrowland that’s just begging to be filled. Now, with Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch making waves earlier this year, the little blue guy is suddenly front and center again. There’s buzz that Disney might be planning something bigger than a cameo.

The Perfect Time for a Comeback

It’s hard to ignore the timing. The live-action remake did really well, especially considering its modest budget compared to other Disney blockbusters. Stitch has always been a fan favorite, and Disney seems to be leaning into characters that bring that classic-yet-chaotic energy people love.

So, where would Stitch fit? The old theater where Stitch’s Great Escape! used to operate still sits unused in Tomorrowland. Fans can’t help but wonder: Could a new Stitch attraction be in the works?

What Kind of Attraction Would Make Sense?

Rumors are floating around—some more grounded than others. One idea is a dark ride that captures Stitch’s playful and wild personality, similar to how Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor uses humor and live audience interaction. Another version floating around would lean into the intergalactic chaos of Stitch’s origins, taking guests on a wild spaceship adventure (minus the infamous chili-dog scent, please).

Given how Disney streamlines rides with Lightning Lane, any new Stitch experience would probably be easily integrated into that system. It could be a pre-reserved interactive show, a character encounter, or a hybrid ride with live elements.

Stitch Cameo

Disney already gave Stitch a small but meaningful comeback—he now appears on the Walt Disney World Railroad! Starting July 7, guests riding the train from Main Street, U.S.A. to Fantasyland can hear Stitch’s voice in the new narration. He jokes with the conductor, makes silly remarks about Tomorrowland, and even yells out, “Stitch blue!” when passing TRON.

The voiceover is short, but it’s a huge hit with fans. Disney only added it in one direction—possibly to encourage repeat rides—and the response has been pretty positive. It’s the kind of charming, low-effort move that gives guests a surprise smile.

Is a Ride on the Way?

Disney hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but all signs point to the potential for more Stitch in the parks. The timing is right. The space is available. The fans are asking for it. Whether we get a full attraction or something smaller-scale, Stitch is clearly back in Disney’s good graces.

Let’s just hope this mischievous alien gets the spotlight he deserves again—chili dogs not required.
