Months after Stranger Things concluded on Netflix, fans can revisit Hawkins and the Upside Down—this time in theaters.
The first two episodes of the upcoming 3D animated series Tales From ’85 will screen back-to-back in select theaters on April 18, before the series launches on Netflix on April 23. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the preview will have a total runtime of about 55 minutes.

The screenings, in partnership with AMC Theatres, will take place in 34 U.S. theaters at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. local time. Fans can also see viewings at the Paris Theater in New York and Netflix House Philadelphia.
Netflix has brought Stranger Things to theaters before: Season 5 premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on November 6, 2025, and the finale was dual-released on Netflix and in over 600 theaters across the U.S. and Canada on December 31, 2025, continuing into January 1, 2026.

Tales From ’85 brings back main characters such as Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max, but with an entirely new voice cast.
Showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles described the series in an interview with Empire in February as a “lost season.” He said, “We wanted to go back to Hawkins and feel like a lost season,” adding that the story focuses on “when the kids weren't trying to save the world—they were just trying to save the town.”
Tales From ’85 is the first of many new Stranger Things projects, including an untitled live-action spinoff series. The Broadway stage play The First Shadow is also coming to Netflix.
