Disney Cruise Line has quietly removed its scheduled return to Australia for the 2026/27 season, sparking disappointment and confusion among local fans. While no official announcement has been made, the signs are clear: sailings that were expected to resume in Melbourne by late 2026 are nowhere to be found.
Disney Wonder, which has operated seasonal voyages out of Australian ports in recent years, is no longer listed on Melbourne or Brisbane’s cruise schedules.
Disney Cruise Line Fans Left in the Dark
The unexpected change was first flagged by Cruise Passenger, which noted that Disney Wonder had initially appeared on Melbourne’s schedule for late 2026. Those entries have since vanished. Brisbane’s port schedule similarly omits any Disney activity. Only Sydney and Eden still reference the Wonder—but without confirmation of a full season, guests are skeptical.
There has been no statement from Disney Cruise Line, leaving travelers to speculate across social media and message boards.
“I think the 25/26 season was selling poorly, hence the recent 30% off sale,” one Reddit user commented. “I also believe that the reason we haven’t seen the 26/27 itineraries released yet is because DCL is reconsidering another Aus/NZ season.”
Others pointed to the rising popularity of cruises in Southeast Asia—particularly Singapore—as a possible factor. “The fares on the Adventure are comparable to (if not cheaper than) the Aussie cruises,” one user wrote. “My next cruise will probably be on the Adventure, and I’ll combine it with a few days holiday in Singapore beforehand.”
Are Australia Voyages Cancelled?
Some fans believe port logistics are to blame, particularly in Melbourne. “Port Melbourne is having issues with cruise ships [if I recall]. The fees they are charging are insane and making companies pull out,” one person wrote.
In a now-viral post, another Reddit user claimed they contacted Disney directly: “Called today to ask, was advised the 26/27 season is no longer going ahead and the ship had been repositioned. They invited me to sail the Disney Adventure instead.”
Although Disney has yet to confirm the change, the lack of 2026/27 itineraries is difficult to ignore. Many expected a formal release of Australia cruise dates by now, especially as Disney Wonder has already proven successful with family-focused offerings out of Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
Instead, the conversation has shifted to whether those sailings are gone for good—or simply on hold.
The Disney Cruise Line Fleet Grows
All of this comes as Disney Cruise Line aggressively expands elsewhere. The company’s growing fleet includes the Disney Wish and the Disney Treasure, with another ship, Disney Adventure, set to debut in Singapore this December.
But not all headlines have been positive. The Disney Magic—DCL’s original ship—was recently in the news following reports of bed bug infestations and plumbing issues that left guests complaining of leaks and maintenance problems during their voyages.
For Australian guests, though, the issue isn’t onboard—it’s the fact that they may no longer have a Disney cruise to board at all. As of now, Disney Wonder’s future in Australia remains unclear. And for many fans, the magic seems to be drifting elsewhere.
