‘The Imagineering Story’ Book by Leslie Iwerks Sets November Release Date

A new book inspired by the renowned Disney+ documentary series The Imagineering Story (2019) is set to be released this fall! Written by the documentary filmmaker behind the Disney+ series, Leslie Iwerks, The Imagineering Story: A History of Disney's Theme Parks as Told by the Designers (2022) will offer a deeper dive into Walt Disney Imagineering with 640 pages of history that is sure to fascinate fans of Disney Parks.

As the daughter of Disney Legend Don Iwerks, and granddaughter of Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, Leslie Iwerks is uniquely qualified to write the work that captures the stories behind Imagineering so many areas of Disney Parks and Resorts around the world with the team of creatives who designed them.

The book will include nearly every aspect of Walt Disney Imagineering from the early days as WED Enterprises through the present including a look at upcoming projects. New insights from current and former Imagineers will be included in the work as well, along with details and notable stories for planned areas of Disney Parks that never came to be.

Among new anecdotes shared in the book, readers can expect to find out about sculptor Blaine Gibson's habit of staring at people while at restaurants or churches to get expressions right for his work on Disney attractions, and the early days of Imagineering when everyone worked in one building as recalled by Marty Sklar.

The Imagineering Story: A History of Disney's Theme Parks as Told by the Designers is sure to be a must-have item for fans of Disney Parks. Published by Disney Editions, the book will be released on November 8, 2022, and is currently available for preorder on Amazon.
