The Muppets are back to spread holiday cheer in more ways than one this season. The Muppet Christmas Carol, a beloved retelling of Charles Dickens’ iconic tale, is taking center stage once again with an exciting new experience that brings the magic of the 1992 film to life in a whole new way.
First of all, kicking off this month, fans in the UK are in for a treat. Starting December 1, live orchestra screenings of The Muppet Christmas Carol will tour across the region, providing a unique way to enjoy the film’s heart-warming music. For those in London, the Prince Charles Cinema is hosting daily showings of the film throughout December, cementing its status as a seasonal favorite.

But there’s also a 4DX version of the film. Exclusive to the Bullock Texas State History Museum, this “multisensory” experience promises to immerse viewers like never before. From simulated snow to enhanced visuals, the 4DX treatment transforms the viewing experience into an interactive holiday event.
Tickets are available for $12 ($8 for members), and while the “special effects screening” is seemingly limited to this venue, here’s to hoping that other theaters may follow suit.
Streaming fans haven’t been left out, either. Disney+ offers two versions of the film: the original theatrical release and the updated cut featuring the once-omitted song “When Love Is Gone.” This added flexibility lets fans relive the story of Ebenezer Scrooge in the way that resonates most with them.
