“The safety of our animals is our highest priority,” a ZooAmerica representative stated. “By closing temporarily, we can focus entirely on providing the care and protection our animals need during this extreme weather.”

ZooAmerica has implemented a detailed safety plan to shield its animals from the harsh conditions. Key measures include:

  • Relocating animals to heated indoor facilities specifically designed to keep them warm and comfortable.
  • Enhancing bedding and insulating enclosures for added protection.
  • Increasing staff presence to monitor animal health and respond to any needs promptly.

These actions ensure that ZooAmerica’s residents will remain safe throughout the storm.

Winter Storm Safety Tips for the Public

With the severe weather expected to impact a large portion of the region, ZooAmerica’s closure serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize safety during extreme cold. Here are some tips to stay protected:

  1. Bundle Up: Wear multiple layers, including a heavy coat, gloves, a hat, and a scarf, to cover exposed skin.
  2. Limit Outdoor Activities: Stay indoors as much as possible, especially during periods of intense wind chills.
  3. Follow Weather Alerts: Stay informed by monitoring local forecasts and heeding warnings from authorities.
  4. Protect Pets: Ensure pets are brought indoors or have adequate shelter and access to water that won’t freeze.
  5. Prepare for Emergencies: Keep an emergency kit with essentials like flashlights, batteries, non-perishable food, and blankets in case of power outages.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
