This is Why We’re Crazy About the Edison at Disney Springs

If you haven’t been to Disney World in a while, you are missing out on a lot of new and exciting things—not the least of which is the new Edison restaurant at The Landing at Disney Springs. It’s one of the newest restaurants at Disney’s dazzling shopping, dining and entertainment district, and dining at The Edison is quite the experience. We’re just crazy about the place, and here are just a few reasons why.

1. Look at all those inventions!

The décor inside The Edison isn’t your average restaurant décor—not by a long shot. The Edison is decorated throughout with replicas of inventions credited to inventor Thomas Edison! You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into an electric company’s building from the 1920s. And these themes are carried out through the entire dining experience, even down to the menus on the table, which aren’t called menus, but rather “a catalog of parts.” Ingenious!

2. The atmosphere in the restaurant

We love the classy atmosphere at The Edison! During lunch and dinner, lively jazz and Big Band music is pumped throughout the restaurant. After 10:00 p.m., there’s a dress code at The Edison, but it only adds to the experience. The Edison never feels pretentious—just lively, fun and a lot like a step back in time! Some people visit The Edison dressed in their 1940s garb, and others come clad in their classiest steampunk ensembles—complete with big hats and big pearls! The Edison has a way of immersing guests in an era of days gone by, and it’s simply enjoyable!

3. The entertainment is second to none.

You won’t usually see too many empty tables at The Edison during the evenings. And part of the reason the house stays full is the entertainment offered each night in this exciting dining venue. There’s a live DJ and dance floor, tap dancers, burlesque dancers, an aerial contortionist and more. No matter which night you visit, you’re in for a treat when it comes to the entertainment that evening!

4. Candied bacon on a clothesline

This is one of the most popular appetizers in the Catalog of Parts (the menu). The DB Clothesline Candied Bacon is a signature appetizer, and you won’t find anything close to it anywhere else! The appetizer is a set of candied strips of bacon attached to a “clothesline” with clothespins—each one a different flavored bacon. Which one will you eat first—the Maple, the black pepper, the sweet and spicy pickle or the fruit mustarda bacon?

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
