Guests Hung Vertically on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Rescue Response Initiated

This week, guests aboard Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Resort found themselves stuck in a nearly vertical position on the ride’s ascent. Disney cast members eventually evacuated dozens of riders from the attraction.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the reimagined Splash Mountain inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (2009), opened at Disneyland Park in November 2024. It quickly became a popular addition to Bayou Country, transporting guests through the musical and vibrant world of Princess Tiana, Mama Odie, Louis, Prince Naveen, and more fan favorite characters.

Despite operating smoothly in its opening months compared to its Florida counterpart, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure experienced a significant stoppage this week. Reddit user u/impermanentaccount, who was onboard during the incident, shared photos and details about the evacuation process.

The guest recalled, “Our log stopped right before the crest of the final big hill…not the easiest to get out of!” They described being “stuck semi-vertical for a while” before cast members guided them backstage through a security video booth and employees-only hallways.

At the time of the breakdown, Disneyland Park guests were enduring wait times of about two hours, heightening frustration as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure unexpectedly halted.

The guest sympathized with those waiting behind them, commenting, “We felt bad for the women behind us in the log, who had been waiting in line for two hours. But it was cool to get an unexpected sneak peek behind the scenes of the ride!”

Other Disney Park visitors also reported long waits before the shutdown. User u/LDWfan shared, “Waited two hours for Tiana’s and this shutdown happened just after we made it past the kitchen. The Lightning Lane was out of control yesterday and made the standby lane just brutal.”

While Disney has not released details on what caused the ride to stop, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reopened shortly after and was operating normally at the time of this report.
