Tokyo Disney Resort is bringing one of its beloved attractions to other parts of Japan. On July 22, The Oriental Land Company—the third-party group operating Tokyo Disney Resort under a license from The Walt Disney Company—announced that its “Magic in the Air” drone show would be touring Japan for a limited time, kicking off in August 2025.
The 15-minute drone show, which utilizes 1,500 drones, creates stunning visuals of beloved Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Aladdin. It features scenes inspired by Frozen (2013), Peter Pan (1953), and Tangled (2010), all while using classic Disney music and visuals inspired by Fantasy Springs, Tokyo DisneySea’s newest port. This new Disney Park area includes Frozen Kingdom, Rapunzel’s Forest, and Peter Pan’s Never Land.

“Magic in the Air” isn’t entirely new to fans, as it previously toured fireworks festivals throughout Japan to celebrate the opening of Fantasy Springs in 2024. This followed the inaugural drone show tour celebrating Tokyo Disney Resort’s 40th anniversary in 2023.
This year, the show will perform at the 109th Ashikaga Fireworks Festival in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, on August 2 at 7:15 p.m. The next stop will be the 32nd Akagawa Fireworks Festival in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, on August 16, with another 7:00 p.m. showtime. Tokyo Disney Resort has hinted that more locations will be announced later. It’s important to note that Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea won’t offer performances of “Magic in the Air.”

But the drone show isn’t the only magical event taking place across Japan. Tokyo Disney Resort also announced that the Duffy and Friends 20th anniversary celebrations will include a Duffy Bear bus touring Japan. The cute, fuzzy bus has made stops throughout the country and will head to Wakayama Sand Castle Square in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, on November 23, 2025. The Japanese Disney park plans to release more information about the exact times closer to the event.
