With rising breakthrough cases of COVID-19 due to the Omicron variant beginning to impact events and international travel once again, performances of this evening’s Hamilton on Broadway in New York City have been cancelled.
Ticketholders have been notified of this unfortunate Broadway news via their contact info through their method of purchase, and tickets will be refunded through their point of purchase. Hamilton‘s official Twitter account also shared the news this morning:
Impacts of rising cases of COVID-19 have impacted other Broadway performances and have seen the return or expansion of mask mandates in some cities across the country. For Disney fans, masks are still required indoors and while on transportation at the Walt Disney World Resort, with this policy currently in place until further notice despite Orange County, Florida dropping its state of emergency earlier this year.
Overseas, Guests from the UK who planned to visit Disneyland Paris over the holidays have had to rearrange their plans as France recently banned nonessential travel from the UK due to rising cases of COVID-19.
With this of due to rising , at cities with theatre scenes across the country, not only in , but in , , and others, might want to keep a close eye on . We hope other are not affected, however as the counts continue to change, we would keep checking with theatres for any updates.
While not comparable to seeing a live performance, Hamilton is available to stream from home using Disney+. We hope that restrictions and cancellations do not continue at this rate, however we have seen the impacts of rising cases of COVID-19 before and have an unfortunate inkling for where things could be going. Apple SharePlay is now available to stream Hamilton on Disney+ and FaceTime friends or family in the process if you are hoping to watch the musical with others virtually.
As we continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic, we will share additional updates on incoming (and hopefully lifting) restrictions as they may impact Disney fan experiences at home, or at entertainment venues like Broadway, and while visiting Disney parks around the globe.
Stay safe this holiday season, and if you were planning on seeing Hamilton tonight, we hope you are able to see the at a soon!
