Disneyland Resort is temporarily shuttering one of its most popular adult-focused destinations next month. The indoor portion of Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel will close February 17 for an extensive renovation project targeting the venue's signature special effects and atmospheric elements that draw Disney Parks fans from around the world.
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar Goes Dark February 17
Disneyland Resort announced Wednesday that Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar will cease indoor operations on February 17, 2026. The Disneyland Hotel establishment serves elaborate cocktails and mocktails in an immersive environment filled with interactive special effects and tiki-themed decor.

The outdoor seating area will continue welcoming Disney Park guests throughout the refurbishment period, maintaining access to the venue's full drink and food menu. However, the indoor bar experience—which features the most elaborate special effects and an intimate atmosphere—will be completely unavailable during the renovations.
Theme park journalist Scott Gustin announced the closure on X (formerly known as Twitter):

Major Technology Overhaul Planned

Construction permits filed by Disneyland Resort in October 2025 reveal the extensive scope of planned work at Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar. The permit application specified:
“DLH – Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar – Tenant Improvement: Replace (42) gas tiki torches with epoxy anchors at exterior. Install air conditioner at electrical room. Replace interior show effects, show lighting and lighting systems. With mechanical, electrical and plumbing.”
The permit language suggests Disneyland Resort is targeting the technological systems that make Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar a must-visit destination for Disney Park guests. The venue's reputation rests on its elaborate special effects—including simulated rainstorms, volcanic eruptions, and other interactive elements triggered by specific drink orders.

“Replace interior show effects, show lighting and lighting systems” could mean Disneyland Resort is simply updating aging equipment with modern equivalents. Alternatively, the Southern California Disney destination might be introducing entirely new special effects that push the boundaries of what the adult-focused bar can deliver.
