Traveling the World Showcase with Kid - 8 Kid-Approved Activities to Enjoy

Performances

There are many live performances that occur throughout the day in the World Showcase, and most of them would interest children.  Check out live rock music provided by the British Invasion in the UK Pavilion, or enjoy the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats in China. 

Serveur Amusant, located in Italy, does some amusing but dangerous tricks involving stacking chairs, and the current iteration of Music of Mexico features traditional mariachi music along with amazing puppets and a Coco movie tie-in.  There are many more that I haven’t mentioned, too!  Check your times guide and steer your family toward the performances that they’ll love best!  Performances are subject to change, and recently we have seen some acts replaced with new ones across the parks.  

Character Greeting

Believe it or not, Epcot is actually home to tons of character greeting opportunities.  Starting in the UK, you may find Alice, Mary Poppins, or Pooh and friends.  As you pass by the International Gateway entrance to Epcot, keep your eyes peeled for characters that may pop up in the bridge area as well!  France is home to both Aurora and Belle, and you’ll find Jasmine in Morocco.  On the other side of the World Showcase, look for Snow White in Germany, Mulan in China, Anna and Elsa in Norway, and Donald Duck in Mexico.  

Fun Dining

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall offers character dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  The princesses who are normally featured are Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Princess Aurora, and Ariel.  The food selection features both traditional Norwegian dishes, some of which may not please a picky eater.  Your best bet for them is to visit at breakfast.

There are other non-character meals that also include some form of entertainment, which may be fun children depending on what they find amusing.  One of these is Teppan Edo, a hibachi grill style restaurant where the chefs are skilled at performing various tricks on the grill.  Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco features belly dancers, and Biergarten Restaurant in Germany features a polka band.  

Snacking Around the World

Drinking around the world may be a favorite pastime of adults, but snacking around the world is an activity that everyone can share in.  Some standout favorites for kids are Kakigori in Japan- it’s a shaved ice dessert, so it’s perfect to cool you off on a hot day.  In France, you’ll find amazing ice cream at L’Artisans de Glace.  Other options for the sweet tooth that don’t melt as easily can be found at Karamell Kuche in Germany, where you can sample cookies, brownies, popcorn and more- all featuring Werther’s caramel.  Looking for a classic that the family can share? Don’t pass up the funnel cake in the America Pavilion!
