Tree of Life Replacement Confirmed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Walt Disney World Resort has officially shared more details about the upcoming replacement for It’s Tough to Be a Bug! at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The 3-D show, which has been a fixture inside the Tree of Life Theater for years, officially closed on March 16, 2025.

The closure, however, isn’t the end of the story. In 2023, Disney announced that the show would be replaced with a new 3-D attraction based on the hit movie Zootopia (2016). Set to debut in winter 2025, the new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!,” is expected to open around the same time as the theatrical release of Zootopia 2 (2025).

Although Walt Disney World Resort has been tight-lipped about the specific details, a few exciting pieces of information have already been shared. Ginnifer Goodwin, the original voice of Judy Hopps, will reprise her role and sing a brand-new song written specifically for the show. Disney Parks fans can also look forward to a new Clawhauser audio-animatronic, likely modeled after the one seen in Zootopia: Hot Pursuit at Shanghai Disneyland.

On June 18, 2025, Walt Disney World Resort shared an all-new official description of Zootopia: Better Zoogether!. @DrewDisneyDude shared the news on X (formerly Twitter):

Walt Disney World shared a new description for “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” opening in late 2025 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

“Join Officer Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and other favorites from the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios movie as they come together in a new, original story featuring stunning visual effects and interactive surprises.”

The opening of Zootopia: Better Zoogether! comes amid several ongoing changes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Walt Disney Imagineering is already transforming DinoLand U.S.A. into a new area inspired by the Tropical Americas, featuring attractions based on Encanto (2021) and an Indiana Jones reimagining of DINOSAUR. The land, Pueblo Esperanza, is expected to open sometime in 2027.

Much of DinoLand U.S.A. has already closed for the overhaul. The Boneyard play area will permanently close in September, with the rest of DinoLand U.S.A., including DINOSAUR, remaining open through the end of 2025.
