Hogwarts Castle is about to fall into the hands of some of the darkest characters in the Wizarding World.
Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced the return of Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle, bringing Lord Voldemort, Dementors, Death Eaters, and dark magic back to Universal Islands of Adventure.
The nighttime experience begins September 5, meaning guests are now just 11 days away from seeing the famous castle transformed after sunset.

And the return comes during an especially fitting year for Harry Potter fans.
Dark Arts Takes Over Hogwarts Castle
Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle will return to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade on select dates from September 5 through November 1.
Once darkness settles over Universal Islands of Adventure, Hogwarts Castle becomes the centerpiece of an ominous nighttime presentation combining projections, music, and familiar characters.
Dementors, Death Eaters, and other creatures appear across the castle as dark magic seemingly takes control of Hogwarts.
Lord Voldemort eventually joins the takeover, summoning his followers as the experience reaches its finale.
It's a major departure from the appearance guests see during a normal daytime visit to Hogsmeade.
Darkness descends on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Hogwarts Castle serves as the backdrop for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey throughout the day. Beginning September 5, however, the landmark will take on a much darker role on select evenings.
A Big Year for the Wizarding World
The return comes as Universal celebrates Harry Potter's 25 Years of Magic, marking 25 years since the first film arrived in theaters.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) launched the movie franchise that ultimately inspired Universal's theme park lands.
Since then, the Wizarding World has become an increasingly large part of Universal Orlando.
Guests can now visit Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure, Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe.
This fall, Universal is returning some attention to its original Wizarding World destinations.
Death Eaters Return Even Earlier
Guests won't have to wait until September 5 for dark magic to return.
Universal has also announced that Death Eaters will roam The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley on select dates from August 27 through November 1.
The followers of Lord Voldemort will move through the streets and interact with guests as they attempt to recruit supporters for the Dark Lord.
Their arrival also comes one day before Halloween Horror Nights begins at Universal Studios Florida on August 28.
While the two experiences are different, they'll give Universal Orlando an even darker atmosphere heading into the Halloween season.

September 5 Begins the Hogwarts Takeover
Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle isn't a permanent replacement for the castle's normal appearance.
Instead, the transformation happens after sunset on select nights, using the exterior of Hogwarts as the setting for the nighttime presentation.
Guests have until November 1 to experience both Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle and the returning Death Eaters.
For now, the countdown is officially on.
In 11 days, Hogwarts Castle will once again fall under the influence of Lord Voldemort and the Dark Arts.
