Universal Orlando Introduces Eco-Friendly Electric Buses for Epic Universe Guests

Announced by Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, in September 2023, these state-of-the-art buses will provide seamless connectivity between Universal’s north campus and the highly anticipated Epic Universe park. This initiative underscores Universal’s commitment to both innovation and environmental responsibility.

Electric bus service started at Universal today, with shuttles between Stella Nova resort and CityWalk.

To ensure a smooth transit experience, Universal Orlando has reimagined the road infrastructure connecting its parks. The newly constructed route features a dedicated central median for the electric bus fleet, allowing for uninterrupted travel. According to Woodbury, the trip will take just 12 minutes—a fraction of the travel time compared to other theme park systems. This efficient design prioritizes guest convenience, enabling visitors to focus on enjoying their park adventures.

Universal’s electric buses are designed to provide a premium travel experience. Each bus is equipped with enhanced seating for maximum comfort, ensuring that guests can unwind during the short commute. Additionally, onboard phone charging stations cater to today’s tech-savvy visitors, enabling them to recharge their devices and stay connected throughout their day. These thoughtful amenities align with Universal’s goal of creating a guest-first approach to every aspect of the park experience.

Eye-Catching Themed Designs

In keeping with its tradition of immersive storytelling, Universal has wrapped each electric bus with vibrant designs showcasing iconic intellectual properties (IPs). Guests will enjoy seeing stunning visuals from SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, the Dark Universe, and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. These artistic touches transform the buses into rolling extensions of the parks, building excitement and anticipation before guests even arrive at their destination.

The electric bus fleet is a cornerstone of Universal’s sustainability strategy, which aligns with Comcast’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. By transitioning to electric transportation, Universal is reducing its carbon footprint and demonstrating leadership in environmental stewardship within the theme park industry. Woodbury emphasized this commitment, saying, “These buses speak to our commitment to meet our Comcast objective to be carbon-neutral by 2035.”

This initiative not only benefits the environment but also sets a precedent for sustainable innovation in large-scale entertainment venues.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
