Universal Orlando Resort is preparing for one of the biggest expansions in its history with the opening of Epic Universe on May 22, 2025. The excitement surrounding this highly anticipated theme park continues to grow, and Universal has confirmed that its plans don’t stop with the grand opening. Additional attractions are already in development for Epic Universe, as well as Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, ensuring that guests will have new experiences to look forward to even after the park debuts.

Epic Universe will feature five uniquely themed lands, each offering a distinct adventure. Celestial Park, serving as the park’s central hub, will greet guests with beautifully landscaped gardens, immersive water features, and futuristic designs. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic will allow visitors to step into the world of 1920s wizardry, exploring iconic locations from both the British and French magical communities.
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD will bring to life the vibrant and interactive world of Mario, Luigi, and other beloved Nintendo characters. How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk will immerse guests in the Viking world of Berk, complete with dragons, thrilling attractions, and themed dining. Dark Universe, inspired by Universal’s classic monsters, will deliver an eerie, gothic experience filled with supernatural encounters and high-adrenaline rides.
According to Universal executives, Epic Universe has been designed with future expansion in mind. Karen Irwin, Universal’s president and COO, recently stated that planning for additional attractions is already underway. Each of the five themed lands has designated areas for future rides and experiences, meaning the park will continue to grow well beyond its initial opening. This strategic approach ensures that Epic Universe remains a dynamic destination that evolves over time.
Universal’s expansion plans aren’t limited to Epic Universe. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, a longtime favorite roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida, is set to close later this year. While Universal has not revealed what will take its place, speculation is growing about a new, state-of-the-art attraction that could bring fresh excitement to the park. Additionally, both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are expected to see new attractions in the coming years, reinforcing the company’s commitment to continuous innovation.

Epic Universe is being touted as Universal’s most ambitious theme park to date. With over 50 attractions, shows, restaurants, and shopping experiences, the park is expected to set a new standard for immersive entertainment. One of its most highly anticipated rides, Stardust Racers, is a dual-racing roller coaster that will provide guests with an intense and thrilling experience. As the park’s opening date approaches, Universal has begun team member previews, and Epic Universe has been officially added to the Universal Orlando app, allowing future visitors to start planning their trips in advance.

While all eyes are currently on Epic Universe, Universal is ensuring that its entire Orlando resort remains at the forefront of the theme park industry. The confirmation that more attractions are in the works for all of Universal’s parks signals that guests can expect exciting updates for years to come. Whether visitors are eager to explore the magical corridors of the Ministry of Magic, race through SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, or uncover the mysteries of the Dark Universe, Universal Orlando Resort is shaping up to be more thrilling than ever.
